If you want to make the most profit possible in your chosen niche, then you need to do your best to ensure you build residual traffic. And what better way to do this than to win at the search engines? This involves a lot of steps.
There are onsite and offsite factors that determine whether you’ll rank high for the keyphrases you target or not. But of them all (those that we are sure of), getting high quality links to your site happens to be the surest way of ranking high for your chosen keywords. Let’s look at some ways to get those links…
1. Perhaps one of the best and easiest ways is submitting articles to article directories. These sites have been around for some time and have built search engine love. Best of all, all it will cost you are the time and effort in writing and submitting your article.
The good thing about this method is that you will determine your anchor text for each article submitted. This is a very good thing as you’ll have more control over which keywords or key phrases you get ranked for.
There used to be a time when links from a few articles would do. Not any more. You need to get into the habit of submitting at least one high quality article to as many article directories as make sense each week.
That said, you’ll NOT get the results this strategy typically give if you submit the exact same version of your article to many directories. You need to have a unique version for each instance. Thankfully, there are tools and services that make it easy for you to spin unique versions and submit them to hundreds of article directories.
2. You can start blogs that are related in theme to your main site. Since your blogs are different webpages from your main site, links from them will help you increase your main site’s link popularity.
The good thing about blogging is that you can start right away. Just go to blogger.com or wordpress.com and set up a free account. Post information on your area of interest (which should be relevant to your main site) and get one way links.
If you do NOT have the time or inclination to start a blog, you can still build great links from other people’s blogs. All you have to do is look for blogs that “DO FOLLOW” and post useful comments with a link back to your site.
3. Have you heard of sites like digg.com? You’ve probably used them. You can build links to your site by bookmarking your articles on these sites. You’ll also do well to make it easy for your site visitors to easily bookmark them.
The other advantage of social bookmarking is the leverage you can get. If you have great content some of your visitors will bookmark your articles. People who check their bookmarks will also visit your pages and some will add you to their own bookmarks. This helps you enlist others to do your link building for you.
4. Submit your site to web directories. Some will review your site for free and include you if you meet their standards. Others will charge a fee.
Dmoz is certainly one of the most important directories. However, it does take such a long time for your site to be included. But while you’re advised to submit your site for review there, don’t stop there.
Do NOT limit yourself to just the big directories. Search in your niche. Although niche directories might NOT have very high page rank, their links are very useful because they are theme-focused.
There are services and software that will help you submit your site to many directories. Depending on the demand on your time, this may be a very viable option.
5. Search for forums in your niche. Visit them and post useful comments (of course with a link to your site). Make sure you add value to these forums and you’ll get the most out of this strategy.
There are a few other ways to get quality links. But you can be sure of one thing: You’ll soon start seeing massive traffic to your site if you commit to the methods discussed in this article.
